What makes Afrikar special is that you get the opportunity to drive your own vehicle in a convoy led by an experienced guide. You can look forward to the freedom of being in control of your own all-terrain vehicle, while enjoying the security of a small group, exploring little-used trails and tracks through the dune forests and rivers in and around St Lucia South Africa.

This is a full day tour and includes a beach barbeque / braai. Depart early morning from the St Lucia village. The departure point is about a 5 minute walk from Zulani Guest House B&B.

The Vehicle

The vehicle was designed and developed to best handle the rugged off-road African terrain. The first criteria the designer had to consider was strength, therefore the chassis is built from large section steel tube, cross-supported to give the rigidity needed for very uneven ground. The next consideration was traction: Afrikar weighs about 900kg and the weight distribution is mainly on the rear-drive wheels giving superb traction, which is further enhanced with duel handbrakes. In addition the car has an impressive 350mm ground clearance and a robust turbo diesel engine. The result is a highly effective all terrain vehicle.
